Local Projects/Contributions (annual support)
• Scholarships, Millbrook High School • School supplies for students in need, Millbrook & Webutuck (See letter from Webutuck below!) • Book gifts for 8th graders, Millbrook Central School • Dictionaries for 3rd graders in four local schools • Support of Millbrook HS Interact Club • Youth Exchange (international), incoming & outgoing students • Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly (RYLA), 3-4 MHS sophomores • Participation in Millbrook High School Career Day • Food for Folks Food Pantry (Lyall Memorial Federated Church) • Comida de Vida/Food of Life Pantry (St. Thomas Episcopal Church) • Adopt-a-Highway road cleanup, four times a year • MARC (Mid-Hudson Addiction Recovery Centers) • Millbrook Arts Group (MAG) • Millbrook Community Day • Home Show ShelterBox display (donations fund a ShelterBox) • Radio Rotary – Hudson Valley • Business Directory National/International Projects/Contributions (ongoing support) • PolioPlus – joining with Rotary International to eradicate polio throughout the world; funds matched by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation • ShelterBox (disaster relief) – each box provides tent and basic needs for 10 people. • Fistula Foundation (Zimbabwe), surgery for women in rural areas of Africa • Wheelchair Foundation, provides wheelchairs for needy in developing countries • Bocker family (Union Vale), house destroyed by fire following plane crash • Global Grant Project w/other Rotary Clubs, clean water in deprived villages in India • Shalom Centre of Africa, conflict resolution in tribal lands of eastern Africa • Gift of Life International (El Salvador), nutritional needs for a child after heart surgery • Angels of Light, holiday giving to local children who have life-threatening illnesses • American Veterans Archaeological Recovery (Saratoga NY), for veterans with PTSD • Puerto Rico Disaster Relief following earthquakes (organized by Liberty Rotary Club) • HOAM (Hope On A Mission), food & assistance for homeless in Poughkeepsie • Millbrook Diner, provided thousands of hot meals for the needy during COVID19 • North East Community Center food pantry (Millerton), increased need, COVID-19 • Cardinal Hayes Home, toward deck & ramp on adult workshop building, Millbrook Gifts to Community in Prior Years • Welcome to Millbrook signs (in collaboration with Village of Millbrook) • Restoration of monument at Route 343 intersection |
