ShelterBox Disaster Relief
Every year, millions of families around the world are made homeless as a result of natural disasters and humanitarian crises. For years, Millbrook Rotary has provided annual support to ShelterBox, a nongovernmental organization that responds immediately to these crises by providing materials that bring hope, independence and a sense of normalcy to families recovering in the aftermath of disaster.
ShelterBox fills a gap in aid provision. While food and medicine are delivered by other agencies, ShelterBox provides assistance in terms of proper shelter and essential equipment to help survivors through the first few days, weeks and months as they rebuild their lives.
ShelterBox aid is tailored to each disaster and typically includes tented shelter, blankets and groundsheets, solar lights, cooking utensils, water purification equipment, a tool kit, mosquito nets and children’s activity packs.
